Christian nitwittery

Yesterday, passing through a posh part of London, I saw a church displaying a notice which said: “COME AND JOIN US AT OUR HARVEST FESTIVAL IN CELEBRATING GOD’S ABUNDANCE”.

Ye Gods! What planet do these folk live on? You cannot turn on the television these days without seeing endless images of war, famine, pestilence, and natural disasters.

If our contemporary world provides any convincing evidence of the benevolent abundance showered down upon humanity by an omnipotent loving God, I should like to see it.

It’s all very well to celebrate “God’s abundance” on your John Lewis account in well-heeled St John’s Wood. Try telling that to the world’s wretched suffering millions.

NuLabour and the Democrat Party naturally are pissed off because these here hosannahs are not being offered up to them....

And from the cloakhall come the resentful growls of the NeoCons:

"What about us? WE'RE the ones that taught you SOB's to suck eggs in the first place!"

"God" like the party bosses is never around when the indictmenmts are being issued!
