A bigger scandal than MPs' expenses

A friend in Scotland sends me this. He says the phone contained all the codes necessary for access to every part of the Faslane nuclear submarine base.

Phew! And are we sure all that information has not already been copied by somebody?

What is really curious is that security after what has happened in the world has relaxed so much. It seems as though it were intended to be so.

This is a beautiful exemple of the fact that there is NO final security in this World against what- or whomever, and one may as well live bravely and enjoy it all as much possible. Likewise, lands and peoples. The alternative is to go mad trying to allay one fear after the other only to see yet more, gaudier and gaudier and more awful time-for-time, pop up in their stead. It is a shitty way to live for a man or a nation and, above all, the CIA, MI5 and -6types /all/ had ought to be let go. They can satisfy their excitement needs to-day in the burgeoning free-market field of on-line 'virtual reality' gaming....

Very probably the item cited to-day is in fact an artifact of one of these same games, and /we/ are being had, hmm?

It is interesting that these bin men do get all the best lines.

(Some days later, things altogether having only worsened:) Is it even possible, to-day, for the sovereign, to convey displeasure -- and, thus, precipitate the patently over-due general election -- by reversing previous assent on all bills laid in this session? As I understand it, this would be (or, was, once in a time)in effect to veto not the bills -- but the Parliament?

Seconding Bodwyn's suggestion I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to call general elections, but I'm afraid this might be changing the devil for the demon.

The British political tree - as happens with almost any political tree in the "civilised" world - needs new sap, new elements that give politics the credit it has lost along the years since the nefarious Blair became Labour's leader.

I am confident honesty has not been lost for ever, it must be there, lurking, awaiting for its chance to emerge and make people feel the olden values have not been forgotten.

Hidden in this ration of BS below is The Wook's idea that the old constitutional plantings CAN bud anew -- and from OLD nodes, even:

A renewed prerogative of some sort could be, you know, "way kewl!"

"Prolonged detention" is the big thing over here, now, among all these past-sell-by-date middleaged Presidential males. The made-for-Tee Vee "terrorism" is, alas, ANOTHER rotten excuse for wrecking constitutions:
