You couldn't make it up!

“You are hereby ordered to fall upon the rebels, the MacDonalds of Glencoe, and put all to the sword under seventy. You are to have a special care that the old Fox and his sons do upon no account escape your hands, you are to secure all the avenues that no man escape. This you are to put in execution at five of the clock precisely……”

These were the orders issued to William III’s troops before the infamous massacre of 1692. It seems a trifle unfortunate that the Metropolitan Police codename for its G20 security operation this week is “Glencoe”. Protesters would be well advised to disperse not later than 4.50 hours.

Funnily enough, just before getting your mail I put a juicy comment on Barnacle Bill's site about this situation.

A Campbell visiting the King'sHouse Hotel at Glencoe would still be refused admittance, I believe.

I'm sort of a Campbell, am I in the soup too, then? Anyway, I note that some of /your/ apparatchiks have actually read some history and such. "Operation Glencoe" is positively sneering and cynical and sinister, all in one go.

Aunty, I see that the return of warm weather -- there! -- has given you a new lease on veneficence...here it is raining, snowing, being crappy in general three hundred miles Southeast of the Red River floods. (Ferret Ball and fiance are about 250 miles to the West of these.) I have NOT sown any alfalfa and oats yet, but the baby tomatoes are all sprouting up to beat Hell. And we're going to shear the Bare Handful (my Cheviot ewes) next week or so.. Tuesday wek I think. The only nice thing about that is the lanolin does clear up the Winter cracks around my fingernails. (I piled cardboard flats full of chicks at a neighbor's on Saturday and that damn paper really pulls the oil out of your hide!)

Never fear I have a cunning plan.

I also have my huge reserves stationed at the Claichag Inn and at the ready.

Bring on the Pie-Land Clearances I say.

It is all of it an elaborate and vicious pun! This will become clear if the mob are cozened into rushing and destroying a MacDonald's burger stand....

(Or are Wimpy's still holding their own? It's HAS been a long time away, Mr Wook, hmm...?)

I must put here that all that has occurred to our "worthy" leaders is to strengthen the International Monetary Fund by millions of Euros.

I imagine what would have happened to Britain if the IMF had existed those Glencoe days.

I forgot to add that it is my opinion that the whole crisis thing came out of the brains of people working in the IMF, through the banking system.

Who provides these millions of Euros and trillions of dollars? The taxpayers of course. Where do they go? Into the pockets of the bankers and speculators who caused this "crisis" in the first place.

Jose said...

If it is the taxpayers, then we would have to pose ourselves a question: Aren't the taxes we are paying excessive?

I also think that the printing machines in our states' minting premises must be very active these days. Which takes me to another question:

Who control the issuing of currency?

Supppose there is no "conspiracy," only at most some fragmented and chronic, stupid, plotting. Suppose that ordinary people when they absolutely don't need some cash, or in the UK to go to the doctor, stay strictly away from "government." Suppose that in general people "in government" are viewed with mingled pity and contempt, and that it is widely perceived that all of this "governance" is mainly about the entertainment needs of people who can't easily amuse themselves. In other words, suppose that the situation is as it actually is. Then in fact, no one "in" government is in control, not of events nor of us, and least of all of their own momentary impulses and notions. These people who do not work for a living in other words are just like us, only /not/ ridden down by the chronic resentment and rage at having to pay constantly not only for their own Tee Vee and Internet subscriptions, but for all of these other people's excitement as well. So, when are we going stop writing checks we can't afford and, as an adult matter, rightly resent?
