Ohmygod. Ohjesuschrist.

Ok, my expletives are badly chosen given the context. But oh, oh, oh. I have lost the power of speech. This is horrible, scary. I wish (well, almost) that I didn't have children in a world like this one.

Not very erudite, sorry. But am quite horrified.

Sadly, this IS the world we are living in. This is why I blog....

So better just calm down, Anna dear, and pop over to the burrow Snug for a few more free doubles.

I think the most alarming bit of news in the article is that this cretinous bigot has written a series of "apocalyptic thrillers" which are THE BEST-SELLING BOOKS IN AMERICA, with over 62 million in print!

Jesus wept!

BROADLY Speaking, there are a host of /apparently/ distinct narratives going on.

ONLY Apparently.

EVEN when superficially opposed -- as, for example, Darwinites & creationists -- the net effect of the whole load of poisoned & bad semantics /is/ to condition publics to mass-starvation, epidemics and death.

MUCH Of the Gorean environmental stuff in fact is stiff with a barely-concealed pessimism.

LIKEWISE, The people who responded on 'Radio 4' to Sachs' 1st Reith-lecture to-day all seem to have repudiated any sort of optimism; and, by their own accounts they was, all of them, the pampered & subsidised 'professional' beneficiaries of neolaborofascism!
('Hi! I'm Susan and I yam a Trained Liberal, yuss, um-hum -- and I'm just as scared of the future as Mr Blair downtown in Iraq at night & naked in his y-fronts...!')

THIS, Then, is something like a full spectrum of the collective mental-state of (ta, da!) humanism.

SO, Now in to-day's sample here, we see the ranting of the trailer-court American psychological underclasses, all ridden with secret Jew-envy & a desperate hunger to be 'chosen' just once, by /somebody/ (if only by the Han chinese, for genetic-engineering experiments....)

IT /Is/ scary as Hell -- fortunately, though, there are loads of people working on /nice/ visions, so....

Anti-
I am beginning to think this /whole/ mess is just a good excuse to consume vast amounts of spirits.?
With that being said.. could you please pass the decanter?
If you've ever been to Detroit you know how unsurprising this article is. Detroit is the iconic example of the great dichotomy of the U.S., great wealth, great poverty and a whole bunch of ignorance.
[What if the 'global warming terror' was just a fabricated bureaucratic guise to distract the rabble from what is reality....not that I denounce the facts, but the 'great unwashed' portrayed in this article living in places like Detroit have no desire to view a broader global perspective in terms of war and environmental degradation. It's so much easier to hate and ignore.]

Well meaning Americans have such a time rationalizing being citizens of a great country that on one hand does such good and on the other pursues unpopular and unnecessary war agendas while it commits and exacerbates great atrocities.. war crimes/global warming/pollution etc. When talking heads and pop icons like Gore are scaring the bejesus out of everyone with the truth America feels as though it has no other alternative but to seek guidance and refuge with lunatics like Timothy LaHaye.
A good dose of apathy and scapegoating is far easier than confronting reality for most I'm afraid.
Dose anyone find it surprising that it took Hesse's works more than fifty years to be published and sold in America? Even now his works' popularity are limited.

THERE Is abroad in the West a pervasive sadness.

THIS Is symptomised by the hypermane lunacy to be beheld everywhere, here.

AS The temperature rises the insectile consumerist populace scurries -- and some blunder into the fundamentalist churches, 40 x 80 steel sheds on the edges of the shopping-mauls.

THE New parishioners go inside in quest of the promised air-conditioning as adverted in the hoardings outside the new construction.

NOTHING More serious than /that/, not really....

Yes - it is the sadness of the Ostrich. When will these hordes of bemused, ignorant people pull their heads out of the sand? Are they CAPABLE of it? One really does wonder.

For the past decade, at least, the nuttiest lunatics have been running the asylum. Its high time we heard from these loads of people Emmett says are working on more optimistic scenarios. They are far too quiet, and lacking in influence, for my liking.

THE Following 'link', by a species of indirection, gives an impression of the work of 'the wise' (which is what the term /sufi/ may be said to 'mean'):

I Think the important point is that certain contents (and, workers) /cannot/ be appear -- or, be perceived -- except under specific physical & emotional conditions. In fact, the fact of /wanting/ something tends often to reinforce the physical & embodied ego & thus to keep away precisely what one wants:
